Welcome to the Norwalk City School District!
Norwalk, the Maple City, is the county seat for Huron County. It is located midway between Cleveland and Toledo, fifteen miles south of Lake Erie and Cedar Point. The area provides cultural and recreational opportunities which are comparable to any city in the Midwest. This proud city of 16,000 residents is home to over 60 industrial firms and 170 wholesale and retail establishments. Norwalk has convenient shopping areas and numerous churches. A local airport and top quality hospital are located in the city. Norwalk can boast of an excellent public library and a very active community center/aquatic center. The citizens of Norwalk are aware of the importance of education and have consistently sought to maintain high standards in both their public and parochial school systems.

Just less than 3,000 students are enrolled in the Norwalk City School District. The school district has approximately 250 students in every grade level. Pre-school, Kindergarten and 1st grade are at Maplehurst Elementary, Pleasant Elementary is the home to the 2nd and 3rd grade students and League Elementary has the 4th grade students. Main Street School, which opened in the fall of 2004, houses about 420 students in grades five and six. Norwalk Middle School houses grades seven and eight, while Norwalk High School contains over 700 students in grades nine through twelve. The area career center, EHOVE, provides programs for approximately 120 Norwalk junior and senior students each year.

The professional staff consists of approximately 196 highly trained and experienced teachers and administrators. Over fifty percent of the staff have earned a Masters Degree or beyond, with the average staff member having taught in our schools for 14 years. Our classified staff consists of just over 100 individuals who are dedicated to providing quality services to all of our students.
