A Message from the Superintendent

Superintendent’s Message

Welcome back Truckers! I hope all of you had a wonderful and relaxing summer break. We have been preparing all summer for your return and look forward to another great year.

The 2017-2018 school year will offer a number of exciting new opportunities to our students. At the top of the list is the continued growth of our STEM Program. Beginning this fall students at Norwalk High School will have the opportunity to learn, explore, and invent in a new state of the art fabrication lab. This lab will be similar to the current lab located at Norwalk Middle School. The growth of our STEM programming will also extend to students in grades K-6. New for these students will be increased instruction in productivity software for students in grades K and 1 and sequentially increasing coding and programming instruction in grades two through six.

Keeping with technology, this year we are also continuing our update and expansion of our instructional technology. We are continuing to replace aging laptop devices, as well as, the expansion of our use of CleverTouch Boards in the majority of our buildings.

Beyond these exciting changes, all of our students in grades kindergarten through fourth will receive instruction from our new reading programs. Kindergarten through second grade students will be instructed using SuperKids (http://www.superkidsreading.org), while third and fourth graders will utilize ReadyGen (http://www.pearsonschool.com/index.cfm?locator=PS2eUe).

This is an exciting time to be a Norwalk Trucker! I personally invite you to visit our district to see our amazing children in action and become an active partner in our growth.

Go Truckers!!!
