Several NHS Students Receive Highest Rating at the Ohio Music Education Association Solo and Ensemble Adjudicated Events
On Saturday, January 27th, students from the Norwalk High School Music Department participated in the Ohio Music Education Association Solo and Ensemble Adjudicated Events.

Each year, these students spend 6-8 weeks working with their music teachers to prepare solos and small ensemble works.  They perform these works for judges from around the state and are rated on a scale from 1 (outstanding) to 5 (very poor).  These students show significant progress inside and outside of class because of the intensive nature of instruction.

Receiving the highest rating (1) were Anya Shipman on flute, Heidi Bowles on oboe, Lochlyn Ramsey on alto saxophone, Darren Raymond on tuba, Hayden Barnes on bells, Isabella Shipman on xylophone, Abigail Marchione on violin, Olivia Schaffer on violin, Scarlett Krichbaum on double bass, and a duet of Chloe Thomas on violin and Lauren Metcalf on cello.  Receiving the second highest rating (2) were Lexi Santiago on clarinet, Owen Moore on horn, Braden Nunez on trumpet, Chanse Raymond on euphonium, Braden Lloyd on piano, Emma Trost on cello, and the Norwalk High School Clarinet Trio including Lexi Santiago, Heidi Bowles, and Kaylyn Portner.  Receiving a rating of 3 were Hannah Barnes on flute and Jacob Roblero on alto saxophone.

All of these students worked diligently over the last several weeks to prepare for this event.  Their hard work and dedication is commendable.  They can all be heard performing with the Norwalk High School Bands on Wednesday, February 21st at 7pm in the Ernsthausen Performing Arts Center at Norwalk High School, or with the Norwalk High School Orchestra on Monday, February 26th

at 7pm.  All Norwalk High School concerts are free and open to the public.
