Mrs. Sarah Smith’s kindergarten class is leading the school this week. On Tuesday Harper Smith and Sophia Ramos Cruz helped Mr. Moore lead the announcements. On Tuesday Oliver Compton assisted TLC student Reagan, Dakoda Orndorff assisted TLC student Casey and Jensen Armstrong assisted TLC student Gavin in collecting the recycling from each classroom. On Wednesday, Camden Jenkins and Valeria Mina Cruz lead the announcements.





Mrs. Baker’s class had fun using tic tac toe to learn multiplication!










Pleasant students made cards and colored a picture for a veteran that was deployed.

Students in Mrs. Hipp's Painting and Ms. Boyer's Advanced Drawing Banded together to design the record player. Main Street Staff working diligently during Professional Development Day!






For Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15- Oct. 15), NHS students researched a Hispanic artist and created a portrait of them, or recreated one of their works of art, using cardboard!
Other classes learned the history of alebrijes- spirit animals- and created their very own alebrije using paper mache.

Spanish Club has been working to create a school ofrenda for Día de los Muertos, which is November 1st and 2nd. Students learned what is on an ofrenda, and how the days are used to honor loved ones that have passed away.
Mrs. Cannon's 1st grade students at Maplehurst Elementary School spent the week learning about community helpers and even created their own cardbox box community buildings! A big thank you to our special visitors who brought their learning to life:

Honor a special Veteran in your life by remembering them in our Field of Flags. Donations of $5.00 can be made to the Field of Flags, an organization that raises money for Veterans. Each donation will result in the mounting of an addition flag in the front yard of Norwalk Middle School to show support for our local servicepeople.

Students from Mr. Whaley's Honors Biology class interviewing scientists whose failures led to changes in society. Some of these include Percy Spencer's invention of the microwave, Thomas Edison's invention of the lightbulb, Marie Curie's discovery of Radium & Polonium.
This is a normal Friday in the art room with pottery wheel work, bruise lessons and painting!

Wed, Oct 15, A local artist Summer Braddock came to share her story with the Mrs. Hovestaedt's 5th period art class where we all tried her style of painting.








Monday Oct 13, Mr. Steingass a professional pottery artist came with grant money to demonstrate how to use the pottery wheel and give kids a chance to use them. We now have a permanent one in the Middle School as well!






Norwalk City Schools will be on a 2 hour delay today, Tuesday October 14th due to fog in rural areas.
Mrs. Cannon, Mrs. Kingsborough, Mrs. Andrews and Mrs. Nutter’s class went to Quarry Hill orchards for a 1st grade field trip! The students listened to an apple story, took a tractor ride, ate a snack, picked their own apples and learned all about picking and packing apples at the orchard!! 🍎 Mrs. Cannon’s class also enjoyed homemade apple crisp and ice cream Friday afternoon!!
