Thank you to Mrs. Schlotterer for letting us borrow her kitchens, and Mrs. Zerman for supplying the tomatoes!

Maplehurst Elementary started a recycling program a few years ago. Each week a different classroom has student leaders who help with recycling, announcements and greeting at the door. On Tuesdays, the students collect recycling from each classroom with the help of high school students who are part of the TLC program. We are thrilled to have this partnership with the high school and appreciate the students assisting us with this program. This week we collected 16 bags of recycling! Thank you to the TLC students and the three boys from Mrs. Barb Andrew's class who worked together to load the bags.

Today in Mrs. Kaple's Honors Geometry the students played UNO to get ready for Geometric Proofs. UNO is used to introduce proofs because it leverages a familiar game to teach abstract concepts by modeling them as a step-by-step puzzle with clear rules. Students can connect to the concept of a proof through the act of playing UNO cards to get from a "given" card to a "prove" card. The rules of UNO serve as the "postulates" or "reasons" for each step (card) in the sequence, helping students understand deductive reasoning and the logical justification required for a formal proof in a hands-on, engaging way.
