The Swiftie Club at Main Street school is in their "Thankful Era!" During their November club meeting, students completed a "In My Thankful Era" turkey craft. Each feather represented one of Taylor Swift's eras and they wrote what they were thankful for this holiday season.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

The Maplehurst (K-1) and Pleasant (2-3) Art Rooms could use some donations!
Styrofoam egg cartons, clean/empty yogurt containers, and baby wipes (a.k.a. Art Wipes!) will be used in class for painting. Grocery bags and Amazon mailers will be used later in the school year to send artwork home after the Spring Art Shows, but we'll gladly store them until then!
Please send items in with your student, clearly labeled ART. Items can be sent in at any time throughout the year. Thank you!! 💙💛

Preschool students from Mrs. Golden and Mrs.Lesch’s class had a guest visitor, Mrs.Jude, come to class and talk about dinosaurs. The first lesson a couple of weeks ago, the students learned the names of dinosaurs, what they ate and how big they really were. She brought a life size paper foot of a T-Rex and the students each put one shoe inside the foot to see how many shoes it would take to fill it. Fridays lesson enabled them to be paleontologists, each student used a brush and toothpick to dig for dinosaur bones, each student excitedly and successfully found a dinosaur! Thank you to Mrs. Jude for a fun and educational experience.

Maplehurst Elementary held its annual turkey trot on Tuesday November 18. Families were asked to bring a non perishable food item to donate to the Norwalk Food Bank and they did a fantastic job of “stuffing the turkey”-thank you! First grade students Harper, Lydia and Jack helped collect some of the donations on Tuesday. They collected pumpkin pies from Millers Grocery and then to Wal mart to purchase Butterball turkeys. Many families trotted through the school, earning a ticket for each lap. Over 25 items were donated and we would like to thank the following businesses for the amazing support: Millers Grocery for pumpkin pies, Mike Wilde for 6 butterball turkeys, Front yard market (Kelly Sommers) for pumpkin rolls, Petal Pushers by Mandy for a centerpiece and the following businesses for gift cards: Blutos, Sheri’s Coffee, Schilds IGA. We could not have done this without you. A BIG thank you to those who helped make this a successful event: Mr. Moore, Rebekah Lesch, Lyndsey Heyman, Kaitlyn Smith, Lisa Berry, high school TLC members for decorating the school, TLC members who attended the event-Brooke Heyman and Xavi Immel, and Clay Heyman for being the turkey!

Students in Mrs. Schlotterer’s Independent Living classes have been working on a grocery shopping on a budget project. They have to plan 3 days worth of healthy meals and “shop” online at Walmart, while staying within their allotted budget. Several students were shocked at how fast the grocery bills added up!
