Last week, for National School Counseling Week, we celebrated the amazing Mrs. Englehart and everything she does for students and staff. Everyone across the 6th grade was given a leaf to write a gratuitous message to Mrs. Englehart. We then displayed them on the hallway Support Tree! Thank you and Kepler so much for your continued dedication to the wellbeing and safety of us at League!

Maplehurst Elementary kindness spirit week is February 9-13. We are having this kindness week to remember our sweet student Kaylianna Reno who passed away from congenital heart disease. Saturday February 14 is congenital heart disease awareness day. The students will be dressing up each day and they are creating thank you notes for businesses who serve the Norwalk Community. We are also collecting pop tabs in Kayli's memory to give to the Ronald McDonald House.

The morning preschool students in Mrs. Kathy Smith and Mrs. Jeanette Roth's class were the leaders and collected recycling on Friday morning. The students go to each classroom and empty a large blue recycling tub into the trash bags. The bags are then taken to the recycling dumpsters. Jolene Havens, Andrew Derby and Lenny Wollet did a fantastic job collecting the recycling.

Third grade students recently completed 10 candy themed challenges in math to wrap up our chapter on rounding. After completing the challenges, students were able to give their best "estimate" for the amount of candy in each bag. The student with the closest estimate without going over was the winner of that candy!

League Street Families,
Due to winter weather and the exceeding our allotted calamity days, today will be an online learning day.
Teachers will post assignments by 9:30 a.m. using our usual communication platforms (Remind, or Google Classroom if already in use).
Online learning days are designed to maintain learning continuity while allowing flexibility for families. This is not a traditional school day at home.
What to Expect Today
● Students will receive manageable learning activities
● There will be no live virtual lessons
● Students are not expected to be online all day
● All assignments focus on skills students have already been taught
Student Expectations
● Complete assigned work to the best of their ability
● Do what they can based on their home situation
● Reach out to their teacher if they need support
Students will not be penalized for technology, internet, or access challenges. Questions or Need Support?
If you have questions about assignments, please contact your child’s teacher first, as they are best able to support learning activities.
If you are unable to reach the teacher or have a building-level concern, please feel free to contact me. I am happy to support your family. (loomish@norwalktruckers.net)
Thank you for your continued support and flexibility as we prioritize student safety and learning.
