1.  Norwalk City School District Application: click here and select the appropriate application. 
2.  Background Checks. You will need to obtain both background checks (BCII and FBI) for your initial employment and if necessary, to obtain your credential through the Ohio Dept. of Education. If you have a background check(s) less than one year old, it MAY be acceptable, the Supt. will make that determination.
  • Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) - sent electronically to ODE/paper copy to NCSD
  • Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification (BCII) - sent electronically to ODE/paper copy to NCSD
Background checks may be obtained through our district’s Central Office, 134 Benedice Ave., Norwalk, Ohio. Leona Lortcher is the contact person. Background checks are processed on a walk-in basis Mondays and Wednesdays between the hours of 2:00-3:45 p.m., or by appt. by calling Leona at 419-660-1805. The cost for both background checks for NCSD applicants/coaches is $56; CASH, MONEY ORDER, OR CREDIT CARD, and you must have a valid driver’s license or state I.D.

3.  Credentials. Valid Ohio Credential: apply online at: Ohio Dept. of EducationFor NCSD Supt. signature use IRN: 044560:
    • be sponsored by a school district or Educational Service Center (ESC) (This is done on the assumption that you will work for their district.)
    • create a SAFE account through the ODE website
    • complete the required background checks
    • have in your possession official transcripts with your Bachelor's degree posted
Licenses are valid from July 1st to June 30th annually and may be renewed as early as November for the following school year.

4.  High School Diplomas/GED Verification/Official Transcripts
