Norwalk City School Districts hires substitutes on an as-needed basis to fill in for the following positions throughout the year:
Teachers
On October 28, 2021, Governor DeWine signed into law Ohio Senate Bill 1 (S.B. 1) as emergency legislation. It provides that the Board may employ a person who does NOT hold a post-secondary degree as a substitute teacher for the remainder of the 2021-22 school year provided that they meet specific requirements.
Our local resolution for NCSD was approved on November 16, 2021; it states that we can hire high school graduates who are at least 21 years of age. Background checks and licensure through the Ohio Dept. of Education are still required.

Educational Assistants (building, library, special needs, transportation)
Food Service
Cleaning/Custodians/Maintenance
Secretaries
Bus Drivers (12.50 per hour for trips/$15 per hour for routes)
