The intent of this student activity, Stomping Grounds, is to give our students the unique opportunity to provide a meaningful service to the staff and students of Norwalk High School by running a daily coffee shop. This coffee shop’s objective is to give a large number of students the social and vocational experience they will need after high school in the work place. This activity also will give our students hands-on experience with organization, interpersonal communication, math, and English skills that correlate directly to their needs. In doing this, the goal is to first and foremost be self-sustaining. Secondly, to use profits to allow for student recognition for their hard work in the classroom and in the coffee shop. Lastly, to be profitable enough so that the students will have the ability to donate money to different charities, such as clothing drives, food drives, and fundraisers at the high school, as well as donate to different causes in their community.
